Cat Basics

What kinds of things will your new pet cat need for a healthy, happy life?

Proper Veterinary Care

- Vaccinations

- Check-ups

- Spaying (6-8 months) or neutering (8-10 months) as mating age begins at 12 months.

A Place to Eat

- Clean, rustproof dish about 2 inches high

- Dish should be easy to clean

- Dish should be located out of way of household traffic

- Regular mealtimes

- Fresh water available at all times

A Place to Sleep

- Older cats may want to decide on their own where they would like to sleep, but kittens may feel more secure in their own bed.

- Sample bed: Cardboard box lined with an old towel or newspaper, long enough for the cat to stretch out. Wash and/or change bedding frequently.
